BERND_ AWT PERU
Waiting for Bernd’s report on AWT Peru and what happened with his harness, we update you with the latest we received!
“Really been enjoying the last few days here in Pacasmayo. We’ve got waves coming through everyday with video game-like consistency. All week I’ve been riding sweet head high lefts, providing five or six turns a piece. Wind’s good too, around 15-20 knots off-shore most days… Plus, a lot of people told me it’d be cold here but I’m just splashin’ around in a 3.2 happy as could be, on land I’m pretty layered up though… Can’t complain about the food either, Peruvian cuisine is filled with cool flavors and textures. Most days I eat at the El Faro hotel, it’s super comfy here and everyone’s helpful (especially when I butcher the Spanish language). You can pretty much cruise all day here and sail (paddle) out right from the parking lot. Sailing and surfing all day, glorious eating and sleeping at night, can’t really complain at this point…”
We think the video below talks by itself…

A week before their departure for the AWT contest at Punta San Carlos, Keith, Levi and Bernd answered few questions. Let’s start with Keith Teboul!
– Are you excited to get there (because it is the place where you learned to wavesail)?
Yes I’m very excited! Every year I look forward to get there because it is a fun easy wave spot and it is a good place to stay with Kevin at Solo Sports (camp)!
– Are you going to be a Head Judge again this year?
Yes, it’s the first time I have been a head judge in Baja. It’s a nice contest to judge because there is no jumping but only waveriding. On one hand it’s difficult to judge because waves are so long, so it is hard to watch the rider all along his ride and then get back to the beginning of the next wave and watch the next rider. And on another hand, it is easy because the waves are very distinct.
– What do you bring with you in your suitcase? The 5 most important thing you need.
A wetsuit, my iPod for music, my book (I like science fiction book), my sunglasses and a hat.
– Do you have a lucky charm?
One of the hats that I bring all around the world with me!
– How do you feel yourself when you arrive on the contest place?
It’s a good question, I thing Baja it’s different. I feel I’m going on a trip and then doing a contest rather than moving just for a contest. Because you are in a group living together, getting diner together, spend all days together. No one come just to watch the contest, there are only the guys that take part in the contest.
– Do you have a ritual before starting a contest?
I don’t have any ritual, I just have to be organized and have a good time.
– What do you think about when you are sailing on your board?
Because of what I do, of my job, I’m always thinking about something. It’s difficult for me to get away of my job because it’s what I do everyday. Sometime it’s difficult because thinking about my job prevents myself from going in the water and enjoy. But the other side of it, it’s that I can always try new thing and bring myself to another level. Having and testing new shapes make me felling good. It’s a good job so I don’t mind.
– What do you eat for breakfast to give you energy for a contest?
Steel cut oats with fruits and almond milk.
Quatro Quad & Thruster Sneak Peak
Levi Siver won Santa Cruz event with the new Quatro LS thruster. Here is a graphic sneak peak to wet your whistle.

While Keith sweats the shapes in the shaping room and validates those shapes on the water with his team of pro riders, Bjoern puts pen to paper and rocks the style. Here’s a sneak peak of design details… these babies will be available for you soon.

QUATRO BOARDS CAN’T JUMP…
If you though choosing a Quatro would power your surf, you were right! If in doubt about jumping...

If you though choosing a Quatro would power your surf, you were right! If in doubt about jumping; Sander van Baaren proves they handle high altitudes …
We were blown away when we saw the Sander, and its amazing to see how windsurfing has evolved and seeing underground riders ripping that hard is always a reminder of why we windsurf and build boards!
